Why are humans and pets so compatible?
This love story started with dogs, our most ancient animal companions. Starting from dogs becoming tamer as humans fed them and humans not minding having dogs around and then becoming hunting companions, to elaborate burials it shows that we started to show affection towards them. Domesticated dogs are very 'childlike'; exhibiting behaviours only found in young wild animals such as licking (kissing) their owners faces and not being able to survive on their own. However, there is no evolutionary explanation for that warm and gooey feeling when we look at them, but maybe due to the fact that we take care of these soft and helpless cute balls of fluff.
